Albania hosts Iceland

Albania hosts Iceland in a match from Group H of the European qualifiers. This game is going to be played at the Elbasan Arena in the city of Elbasan. Let’s take a look in our soccer matches tomorrow.

Right now Albania are fourth in this group with 6 points won so far. These points were secured after wins against Andorra and Moldova. In this way the Albanian team proved to be “the best from the rest”, if we exclude the three favourites France, Turkey and Iceland.

In their last game in this group Albania had a difficult visit to the world champion France at the Stade de France. Completely expected by everyone, the French team dominated the game and scored four goals in Thomas Strakosha’s net. Sokol Cikalleshi scored Albania’s only goal in the match from a penalty kick, but it didn’t help the visitors very much.

Iceland are in a completely different situation at the moment, of course. The Vikings are third in the group with 12 points, which is the same amount of points France and Turkey have as well. Clearly the fight in this group until the end will be very interesting to watch.

In their last game the Vikings hosted Moldova in Reykjavik and didn’t face any problems to win. Erik Hamren’s boys opened the score after half an hour of playing, when Kolbeinn Sightorsson executed an assist from Jon Bodhvarsson and put the ball behind Alexei Koselev’s back.

After the halftime break Iceland score two more times when Birkir Bjarnason and Jon Bodhvarsson also put their names on the scoresheet.

In our soccer matches tomorrow we expect to see Iceland dominating this game at the Elbasan Arena. Right now the Vikings have the better team and they are fighting to reach the European Championship. They must do whatever it takes to win this game.
