Borussia Dortmund hosts Schalke 04

Just few days after being eliminated from the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund hosts Schalke 04 in the great Ruhr derby of the Bundesliga. In our soccer matches tomorrow we will preview this match at the Signal Iduna Park for you.

The mood in Dortmund’s dressing room is probably not the best right now. On Wednesday Lucien Favre’s team was in Paris to face PSG in a second 1/8-final from the Champions League, but a 0-2 defeat put an end to their presence in the competition.

In the Bundesliga Borussia Dortmund are currently second, being on four points behind the leader Bayern Munich. Although the Bavarians remain the big hot favourite for the title, Dortmund still have some chance to win the title. Now when they are already out of the Champions League, Der Borussen can concentrate on their performance in the domestic league.

Last week Borussia Dortmund won their 4th consecutive win in the league when they faced Borussia M’gladbach away from home and take all of the points. Thorgan Hazard and Achraf Hakimi clinched the win at the Borussia-Park, while Erling Haland and Jadon Sancho provided the assists.

Because of Dortmund’s game against PSG in Paris, Lucien Favre could make some rotations in his line-up for the Ruhr derby. Julian Brandt is one of the options he could use with fresher legs.

Schalke 04 are 6th in the league with 37 points, so they would like to keep their place in the Top 6. This performance by the Royal Blues is a big improvement compared to the disastrious previous season under Domenico Tedesco. The new manager David Wagner deserves some credit for improving Schalke.
