Lille – Ajax
Looking to win at any cost Ajax visits Lille in a match from Group H of the Champions League. In our Champions League predictions we will try explaining this game to you. Let’s go.
This group looks really fun because the first three teams in it have the same amount of 7 points. Everything could happen between Ajax, Chelsea and Valencia, so every point won in the last two rounds of the group stage is going to be crucial.
Ajax missed a great chance to be ahead when in the previous round they didn’t win after having a 4-1 lead against Chelsea. The Dutch team was dominating at the Stamford Bridge, but the red cards of Daley Blind and Joel Veltman allowed the Blues to equalise. Before this Tammy Abraham and Kepa scored themselves own goals, while Quincy Promes and Donny van de Beek scored for Ajax.
As you may suggest, Daley Blind and Joel Veltman won’t be avaliable for selection against Lille on Wednesday. This means that the manager Erik ten Hag must make some changes in his starting line-up.
Lille are the clear underdog in this group with just one point won, but the Dogs could play an important role in the last two rounds. Lille won their only point so far during their home game against Valencia, but in the other three matches they lost. Clearly Lille were not ready for the games they had in the competition this season.
In the previous round the French team had a goal in hand against Valencia at the Mestalla after Victor Osimhen opened the score. Everything went wrong in the last 25 minutes when Los Che scored four times.
We won’t try to predict some shocking surpises here and in our Champions League predictions we will suggest that Ajax are favourites to beat Lille on Wednesday. For the Dutch team it’s important to do it because three teams are fighting for the first two places in Group H right now.
