Arsenal hosts Manchester City

In a difficult moment for both teams, Arsenal hosts Manchester City at the Emirates in a derby clash from the 17th round of the Premier League. We will have a look at this fixture in our English Premier League predictions today.

Waiting for a new manager to be appointed in place of the sacked Unai Emery, Arsenal are still managed by the caretaker Fredrik Ljungberg. In three games with the Swede in the Premier League, Arsenal recorded one win, made one draw and suffered one defeat. Right now the Gunners are 9th in the league with 22 points, which is certainly not they hoped for at the start of the season.

During the week Arsenal travelled to Belgium to face Standard Liege in Europa League. Ljungberg put a lot of reserves and young players on the pitch and the game ended with a 2-2 draw. Alexandre Lacazette and Bakayo Saka scored for the English team.

In the last Premier League game Ljungberg took out Alexandre Lacazette from the starting eleven, picking the young Brazilian forward Martinelli. It’s going to be interesting what he’s going to decide now.

Manchester City are also in a tough situation. Last week the Cityzens lost the Manchester derby against United and now they are already 14 points behind the leader Liverpool. It’s safe to say that this is a game over for City regarding their ambitions to defend the title.

Some rumours are now saying that this could be Pep Guardiola’s last season at the Etihad. Right now Manchester City can’t achieve the levels from the previous two campaigns and it’s pretty obvious. Maybe now Guardiola and his players will focus on the Champions League.

In our English Premier League predictions we believe that the game between Arsenal and Manchester City is going to be an entertaining one. City are the better team, but right now they are a team with problems. Can Arsenal use this in their favour? We will see.
