Iceland – France

The world champion France have a difficult visit to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik in Friday in an European qualifier from Group H. Can Iceland trouble the team which won the world title last summer? Well, we will see. Let’s discuss this game during our sure win prediction today.

After their surprising defeat in Elbasan against Albania, right now Iceland are third in this group, being three points behind Turkey and France – the first two teams in the standings.

Surely losing against Albania was out of Iceland’s plans, but well – it happened. Sigurdsson and Sightorsson scored for the Vikings, but it was all they could have offered at the Elbasan Arena. Until the 79th minute the scoreline was 2-2, but the Albanian team scored two late goals and managed to win the match.

France on the other hand continue to be second in the group, because of their loss against Turkey in Istanbul. Les Bleus have a better goal difference than the Turkish side, but the rules are giving an advantage to the team which won the direct clash.

We can say that the French team reacted well to the defeat on Turkish ground, winning its next three games in the group. In their last match the world champions hosted Andorra and unsurprisingly enjoyed an easy 3-0 win.

France’s manager Didier Deschamps made some experiments against Andorra in September. He put players like Lucas Digne, Clement Lenglet, Leo Dubois, Corentin Tolisso and Jonathan Ikone in the starting line-up, while players like Hernandez, Matuidi and Pavard got the chance to rest. Les Bleus won the game with goals from Coman, Lenglet and Ben Yedder.

We expect that in Reykjavik Didier Deschamps will use his strongest avaliable line-up. This excludes the centre back Samuel Umtiti, who is recovering from an injury.

That’s our sure win prediction today for the European qualifier between Iceland and France. Who do you got?
