Manchester City and Everton
Welcome to our free soccer tips for today! Let’s dive into the English Premier League and take a look at the fixture between Manchester City and Everton at the Etihad. This is a game from the last 38th round of the competition.
For Manchester City this game does not hold any real meaning because the Cityzens already won the title. They even had the chance to celebrate it with a small party. Pep Guardiola’s team is currently having 83 points at the top of the Premier League which puts them 12 points ahead of the second Manchester United. Last season City lost the crown and handed the trophy to Liverpool, but this time they took back what’s theirs. And they did it with style.
This game won’t be the end of Manchester City’s season, though – the most important game is still ahead. Six days later the Cityzens will travel to Porto where they will face Chelsea in the Champions League final – the first in their history so far. For Manchester City this match against Everton is something like a general repetition before facing the Blues for the most important trophy in European football.
As Manchester City have already won the title in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola has the luxury to rotate his team just how we wishes. In their last game the Cityzens faced Brighton & Hove Albion away from home, but suffered a 2-3 defeat. Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden scored, but Joao Cancelo got sent off after just 10 minutes of playing which serously hurt the visitors. Against Everton Guardiola could pick some backup players such as Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy, Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres.
For Everton it’s a little bit different situation as the Toffees could actually change their position in the league with this game. Right now Carlo Ancelotti’s team is 8th in the standings with 59 points, but on par with the 7th Tottenham Hotspur. This means that Everton could finish in the Top 7 if they win, but it also depends on Spurs’ result against Leicester City at the same time.
In their last game Everton faced Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Goodison Park and enjoyed a difficult, but sweet 1-0 win. It was the Brazilian international Richarlison who scored the winning goal against the Wolves. He used an assist provided by Gylfi Sigurdsson at the beginning of the second half.
It remains to be seen if Ancelotti makes changes in his starting eleven for the last round of the season. Against Wolves he picked Andre Gomes, Tom Davies and Mason Holgate from the bench while players such as Nkounkou, Olsen, King and Bernard didn’t play at all.
That’s the free soccer tips for today for the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Everton at the Etihad on Sunday. For City this is a repetition before the Champions League final while for Everton this is a chance to finish at 7th place in the standings. Let’s see which one of these two teams would have a bigger motivation to win.
