Olympiakos hosts Krasnodar in a first game from the Champions League playoffs. This match is going to be played at Wednesday at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki in Pireas. Here are our Champions League predictions for today.
Olympiakos had a tough job in the third round of the qualifiers, because they had to face a very strong opponent – Istanbul Basaksehir, one of the best teams in the Turkish league. The Greek team did a very good job in the first leg in Istanbul, achieving an important 1-0 win, thanks to a goal from Giorgos Masouras.
In the second leg on Greek soil Olympiakos did even better, enjoying a comfortable 2-0 win.The Portuguese central defender Ruben Semedo opened the score for hosts, while the French star Mathieu Valbuena doubled Olympiakos’ lead with a well executed penalty kick. Pedro Martins’ team kept clean sheet in both games, which tells us that Olympiakos’ defense is doing pretty well right now.
Meanwhile Krasnodar did a truly heroic thing in the third round of the qualifiers, eliminating the Portuguese giants Porto. The Russian side lost the first leg at home with 0-1, but they didn’t give up and achieved an amazing 3-2 win at the Estadio Do Dragao in Porto.
Porto were truly shocked at their own ground, because the halftime at the Do Dragao came with a 0-3 lead for the visitors. Tonny Vilhena opened the score for Krasnodar, while Magomed Suleymanov scored twice.
After the halftime Porto tried to fight back. Ze Luis and Luis Diaz scored, which meant that the Dragons needed one more goal to eliminate their opponent. But Krasnodar’s defense did well and the visitors celebrated after the final whistle.
This is going to be a spectacular tie between Olympiakos and Krasnodar. Both teams showed during the qualifiers that they are very strong. We wish you good luck with our Champions League predictions for today.
