Real Betis hosts Athletic Bilbao

Real Betis hosts Athletic Bilbao at the Benito Villamarin in a match from the 16th round of La Liga. That’s our La Liga predictions for this game in the Andalusian capital Sevilla. Let’s go.

Real Betis had a pretty rough start of the season in La Liga, but they are starting to improve in the last month or so. Winning three of their last five matches in the league, Betis are now 12th in the standings with 19 points won. This is not really a groundbreaking achievement, but it was kind of worse for them until recently. So, yes – this is an improvement.

Last week Real Betis visited Mallorca and celebrated another important win. Rubi’s team secured the three points after a 2-1 win at the Iberostar, scoring twice in the first half. Joaquin opened the score from a penalty kick, while Nabil Fekir doubled the team’s lead in the 33th minute.

On Sunday Rubi will have to deal with the suspension of Aissa Mandi, while Sidnei, William Carvalho, Alex Moreno and Juanmi are injured.

Real Betis will have a tough opposition against them. Athletic Bilbao are having a great season so far, currently being 5th in the table with 26 points. A win on Sunday or even a draw could allow them to enter the Top 4.

Athletic’s form in the last five games speaks for itself – they have won four times and made one draw. Last week the Basques hosted Granada and celebrated a routine 2-0 win at the San Mames Barria. Raul Garcia opened the score from a penalty kick, while Yuri doubled the hosts’ lead just 7 minutes before the end.

Against Real Betis Athletic Bilbao can’t use the suspended Raul Garcia, while Aritz Aduriz and Iker Muniain are injured.

That’s our La Liga predictions for the fixture between Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. The visitors are looking like the better team right now, but it’s always difficult at the Benito Villamarin.
