Real Madrid and Barcelona
When Real Madrid and Barcelona go toe to toe in the El Classico of Spanish football, you can be sure that the whole world is watching. This will be the case on Sunday, too, when these two giants of European and World football meet at the Santiago Bernabeu. We are going to give you a preview of this match in our La Liga predictions for today. Let’s get to work!
Real Madrid are probably in their worst shape since the beginning of the season and this is very bad time for them to allow this – just when they are about to face Barca in the El Classico. Los Blancos won just one of their last five matches in all competitions and they are almost out of the Champions League after a 1-2 defeat at home against Manchester City. They also allowed to be overtaken by Barcelona in La Liga, currently being two points behind Los Cules.
There are some serious problems which are giving a constant trouble to the manager Zinedine Zidane. Eden Hazard continues to be a dissapointment since his move from Chelsea, once again being injured. Meanwhile Karim Benzema is rarely scoring goals anymore, which really hurts Madrid’s offensive power. Against Manchester City it was Isco who put the ball in the net. Against Barcelona Real Madrid must find the men who will put the ball in the net.
Barcelona on the other hand are also dealing with problems in attack because of the injuries of Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele. Because of this Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann are taking all of the weight in attack. Messi scored four goals against Eibar last week, while Griezmann scored the only goal during the 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League. One between Arturo Vidal and Ansu Fati should start close to Messi and Griezmann at the Bernabeu.
In our La Liga predictions we can conclude that Real Madrid and Barcelona will fight for the leadership in La Liga this Sunday. Right now the Catalan giants are ahead of their eternal rivals, but things could quickly change on Sunday. The big question is – can Zinedine Zidane improve his team’s form for one of the most important games of the season?
