Southampton will host Burnley

Southampton will host Burnley at the St. Mary’s on Saturday in a game from the 26th round of the Premier League. Our English Premier League predictions for this game are about to follow.

After a pretty positive performance since the holidays until today, Southampton are now 13th in the league with 31 points won. It might not sound very impressive to you, but just remember that the Saints were deep in the relegaton zone just few months ago. The club’s manager Ralph Hassenhuttl deserves a lot of praise for the way he successfully transformed his team in a very crucial part of the season.

Last week Southampton were without any chance to impress against the best team in the country. The Saints visited the leader Liverpool at the Anfield and conceded a serious 0-4 loss, but of course nobody can be really mad at them. Losing against this version of Liverpool is completely normal, we can say.

Against Burnley Southampton can’t use James Ward-Prowse, who’s currently injured.

Burnley have also managed to stabilize their performance lately, which helped Sean Dyche’s team to climb to 11th place in the standings. Burnley are unbeaten in their last three matches, winning two of them.

Last week Burnley made their 4th draw for the season. They hosted Arsenal at the Turf Moor and secured a point with a 0-0 draw.

On Saturday Burnley will arrive at the St. Mary’s without two players, who are currently injured. They are Johann Gudhmundsson and Ashley Barnes, who are unavaliable because of injuries.

In our English Premier League predictions we can say that we think this is a game between two teams with a very similar quality. Southampton will try to use their home advantage in the best way possible, but Burnley are without a loss in their last three games in the league, which should tell you something.
