Werder Bremen – Borussia Dortmund
One of the favourites for the trophy Borussia Dortmund will face at the Weserstadion Werder Bremen in a match from the 1/8-finals of the German DFB Pokal. This match is scheduled for Tuesday. Let’s have a look at it in our football forecast for today.
In the previous round of the competition Borussia Dortmund had a tough test, because Lucien Favre’s team had to eliminate Borussia M’gladbach from the competition. The two Borussia clubs met at the Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund and the home side went through after a 2-1 win. Marcus Thuram opened the score for M’gladbach in the second half, but Der Borussen progressed after a quick brace from Julian Brandt.
Borussia Dortmund can be happy with their current shape. Der Borussen won their last three matches in the Bundesliga and they scored 15 goals total in them. The big star of Dortmund in these three games was the Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haland, who scored 7 goals in his first three matches for Borussia Dortmund. If Haland starts on Tuesday then Werder’s defense must be paying a special attention to him.
Werder Bremen qualified for the 1/8-finals of the DFB Pokal after a convincing 4-1 win at home against Heidenheim at the Weserstadion. All of the goals in the game then were scored in the first half. Milot Rashica opened the score for Werder, while Bittencourt, Klaassen and Frield finished the job for the hosts.
During the weekend Werder suffered another defeat in the Bundesliga, though. Florian Kohfeldt’s team paid a visit to Augsburg and suffered a 1-2 loss. Werder’s only goal in the game was actually scored by the hosts, because Tin Jedvaj scored himself an own goal.
In our football forecast for the DFB Pokal game between Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund we can say that based on current shape, Der Borussen are the team in a pole position to win here and progress in the competition.
